Your dreamcatcher pieces have been true joys, and all the moreso for the many ways you've used the dreamcatcher itself---the ways you've woven your images into and around it, and the ways it has communicated something different in each image. But it still embraces all the images in which you use it. This has a cool evening feeling, or a fresh early-morning-waters feeling (even though you've said this is night), in which the stars are almost like snow flakes, and the two front wolves---themselves dappled with bluish tints (and beautiful blue eyes)---have entered the dreamcatcher as if out of a deep pure blue lake. You echo the blues in their shadows, in the atmosphere around them, in the beautiful variations of blue in the feathers on the dream catcher, in the turquoise jewels (very Native American, both in stone and in the shape of the beads and silver, etc), and in the tints of the background. The lower portion feels as much like underwater plants as land-plants---a ground with an 'inner' feeling. And the big central wolf's gaze---the wolf behind the two front wolves (the one staring at us)---is like the wolf spirit looking over the whole piece, protecting it. When you do this---place a large face of an animal behind others, half faded, it always feels like the inner spirit of your animals, looking in and protecting everyone. How you achieve that protection, I don't know; but it must be in you, because it happens so often in your images. And the wolf's gaze is framed perfectly by the dreamcatcher... The two front wolves seem like siblings or mates, and have that animal connection between them---another thing you do realistically, meaning you don't make them like gushing humans: they're wholly animals, showing their love the way only animals do. I don't know where you get such deep intuition about animal expression, I know you've had pets all your life, but I'm pretty sure you haven't had lots of pet wolves, lions, tigers, elephants, and so on, so some of it must come totally from within you, your own sense of connection, protection and love...your depiction of affections between animals is always wholly true to the animal, rather than to the way we might 'like' animals to behave. The two wolves aren't touching exactly, but they're totally attuned to each other, and in very canine ways. (And as an extra added attraction, you use a slight pink-tinged blue for your title and signature, to pick up and also accent the blues of the piece---that isn't major, but it's something you do, and when you consider how much attention Chinese, Korean and Japanese artists put into signatures via seals and such, you're following in very ancient footsteps...) An embracing, restful image, capturing peace in an animal that may too often be associated with aggression; and the love inside the dreamcatcher all stems from the love inside of you...the image is graced with a big blue-tinged caress. Beautiful once again. (What can I say to that---"surprise, surprise!" As my father used to say, "you expected otherwise???") Beautiful work, Carol.
