Description
The Tachinid Fly or Feather-Legged Fly (Trichopoda pennipes)
It is about twice the size of the large housefly and has a wingspan of over 1 inch. They lay their eggs on stink bugs and squash bugs. The larvae burrow inside where they feed until they are ready to pupate and the stink bug eventually dies.

This is gorgeous. You are so fortunate to be surrounded by various flies, whereas there is nothing like that in my insect-free area.

I love this family of flies! Some of ours have hugely hairy backsides, and lay their eggs in snails.
