Description
Prior to The 3 Queens event, Karen and I made a welcome return to Stamford to visit Rob. This trip, we went for a stroll in beautiful Burghley Park, venue of the world famous Burghley Horse Trials, amongst many other events.....
This glorious house was designed and built by William Cecil, the 1st Lord Burghley (1520-1598) Lord High Treasurer and Chief Minister to Queen Elizabeth I. The house was inherited by his descendants, the Earls and Marquesses of Exeter, until the death of the 6th Marquess in 1981 when the house and it's contents became part of a charitable trust. The house is currently occupied by Miranda Rock, a direct descendant of the 1st Lord, William Cecil....

An exquisite piece of late Tudor architecture. I wonder what it looks like inside. VERY big for a couple - must have had many relatives living there, plus a huge staff. At first I thought this was your summer cottage. :) Thanks for posting this classic! :-)
