My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Very creative transparency effects, Tara - you blended the color tones & lighting in a very harmonious way - which I know isn't as easy as it may seem...

Oh, I do love this! I love the warmth of the wood and the soft light. You are so good at layering images and I love that it is from our visit to the museum. When I look at it, I think of an evening in a log cabin with a fireplace and good conversation. It is the warmth and light that brings that to mind, and the wonderful variety of fascinating objects. Good conversation is like that. Relaxed, enlightening, and effortlessly weaving this way and that. Truth to tell, I have little experience with log cabins and fireplaces, save in my imagination. (We have a fireplace and we light it on our 1 or 2 days of winter.) But good conversation I have enjoyed and it was part of my most excellent visit with you, Bill, and Mandy. Your title is perfect. The initial impression was of warmth and light, and that prevails the image, but also there is a wealth of history. I love archaeology and the study of humans by the mass of things in their lives. Here there are tools (textured and beautified with age), architecture, containers, and light. Articles of the labor, shelter, leisure, and inventiveness of man. The textures are beautiful too and the interaction of light with them. This is gorgeous! Thank you! (I am also looking forward to our next time together, and adding James to the mix!)

An amazing and very personal tribute to our dear friend, Lucinda. It is full of warmth, harmony and love, which is always there when in contact with Lucinda, she is a very special person. And as your gift is looking, you sure have this warmth to share too, dear friend. Sorry if I make mistakes in writing, have no energy to control all by Google. ;-) btw: I'm wondering how you are doing, Tara! You are sitting in my head (I hope comfortable enough) already for a long time. Anyway, thank you for being 'you' :).

I thought I'd commented on this, but apparently I didn't. Lucinda said it was from your visit to a museum, which would explain the old artifacts, and your title too. I like the double meaning of your title, that it's also a history you 2 shared with Lucinda. A beautiful birthday image! This has what I used to call your "rembrandt" reds, and some oranges and yellows too. It's a dark-rich image, where the reddish tones come through very warmly. And as a few people pointed out (above), you blend in a special way: You allow objects to come through very clearly, while at the same time blending with everything else, a kind of clarity with transparency. So all these distinct objects retain their distinctness, but still commune with each other as if they were ghosts gathered in the same space to share old times. Compositionally, you have what looks like a glass bowl in the center, which winds up looking like a crown, which makes a fine centerpiece because it's like a crown to the whole piece. Whether you did that consciously or intuitively, it's a wonderful artistic choice. Everything else flows in a kind of circle, and speaks together. And the textures and red-tinged hues make it all feel very interior and intimate. Beautiful work, tara, and evocative of intimate shared moments. And fine work for the time before you had your surgery: You hadn't lost your touch through all that time. Happy Birthday, Lucinda, even though you'll probably never read this, lol...
