Description

When Rod (RodS here on RR) and Jo got married in 1971, it was predicted by a close family member that they wouldn't last six months. 44 years later they're still going strong. You can see a picture of Rod and Jo HERE

And I'm sure that family member would tell you that they didn't last six months, they lasted forty-four years. I looked at their picture. Rod looks content. Jo looks surprised. That's a beautiful birthday bouquet you've shown us.

LOL I just showed this to Jo, and she really loves it! I'm so far behind on everything, I keep running into myself going the other way...... But slowly getting caught up.. :-P

your photo of rod and jo (the one you linked us to) is just wonderful. I wholly back Bill's comment that you have to keep doing this, not only because it's a record of the many people you meet on your travels, but because it's a record of their souls. So well put! A wonderful capture of the inner and outer people, with joy, closeness and real unadorned humanity. (Not the kind that's posed, in so many couple shots...but the real kind, the kind from real life, from the soul.) I know enough about how dear your times have been with R and J, from you and from your gallery and from Rod's many comments here, to know how special they are to you. And your story---that some felt they wouldn't last more than 6 months---is wonderful, in light of how long they did last. The shot looks like it's been gently brushed over with the subtlest brush, rendering the flowers slightly painterly, and also fabric-like. It's like a big bouquet of fluffery---not a word, but hey---flower fluffery, burgeoning-out in happiness. Though a dark shot, it has a lot of inner light. And the way the flowers dominate the whole plane is wonderful contrast to so many flower shots where the flowers occupy the center with space around them...like a bouquet that goes on and on. Beautiful work, and filled with the love you have for them, and them for you. Happy birthday Rod and Jo! (Another birthday wish way late, which the recipients will never see!) Beautiful job, Tara---and again, kudos for doing it when your eye was seeing so poorly!
