My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

Practical ANd actually beautiful and artistic as well. Who would think kerosene cans could be turned into such an artsy wall? Thanks for sharing and Happy Birthday again to Andrea. :)

Cans!! Ingenuity and art, walk together, in reality. I couldn't imagine from where this had come, if you had not told:) ...the shingles are so perfectly cut and placed together and with so much expertise. I LOVE this a lot, Tara and i agree fully with Andrea about the subtleties of the tones. This is a wonderful and unexpected image, again,Tara. And still most importantly, it is that i can see how this is a dedi straight from your heart for Andrea and I see how she loved it !! Happy Birthday Andrea, again:)

While I wouldn't light any matches around it, it does make for a really neat image. Some wonderful hues and textures. Seen from a distance it resembles aged leather.

It struck me, when I began this comment, that most of your uploads, since your eye problem took over, have been dedications. So I'm in the embarrassing position of saying "happy birthday" to people weeks to months late! But also, with my tasteless alter-ego always showing up: When you gave your reasons for making this for Andrea, I couldn't help think of what you could've written---"these ugly rusted bent-up and gagging old cans reminded me of you! Happy Birthday!!!" BUT! I know that's not what you meant, and it's not what I meant, so I'll move on. I know why you chose this, and Andrea's gallery is filled with art she makes from objects of the day, things she finds beauty in, and transforms with her postwork; objects that others walk past but which she finds the song in; and her mix, as you say, of beauty with frugal and practical objects. But also the image is a wonderful abstract, with terrific patterns across each can-side, and lots of variation on a theme---the theme here being an orange-red-rust theme, with greens thrown in. You have a way, in minimal subjects like this (meaning that it's mainly about one object), of finding the exclamation mark in the midst of it all: Here, it's in the shadow cast by that protruding sheet. That shadow is the defining 'moment' in this shot, and it's terrific. You brought out the deep blacks beautifully. Your eye was dead-on in knowing where to crop, what to capture, and how to draw forth the shadows and textures, etc. For those reasons it suits Andrea too. Terrific piece Tara. A terrific bday gift for Andrea. And Happy Birthday, Andrea (the THIRD person who'll never see this.) A lush red-rust symphony of a shot.
