Description

Gotta have fun sometime. Glass blocks atop one of two rectangular brick columns, situated at the front end of a pavement path leading to a residence, captured back on 2/10/09, about a quarter of a mile from home. Original, as usual, on top. Have an invigorating day.

i lived for a time down on St. Croix, USVI, and we had this wonderful interior wall betwixt general living space and the kitchen made up of the same kind of thick, warped glass cubes that would help keep the rooms nice and cool :)) to this day, i love architecture that incorporates this styling... also, love the warp and 'in your face' feel on the bottom image... made me giggle, actually...

In my first house I had a circular atrium build our of the same glass blocks and when the sun would hit the room it would produce beautiful colors. Very cool capture!!!

I love these things; excellent photo and really incredibly uber-cool variations here. They seem almost to be made just for this sort of playing!

Whenever you write "the original image is on top," I look at the others and say, "thank god!" If the bottom one were the original, you might wanna get the hell out of LA! (I know the drought is taking its toll, but that would be ridiculous...) A real Harry montage, in that you find your inspiration right under your nose. You've been doing these glass blocks for a long time, but they always appear so new, bulbous, and exotic in your hands. The top shot has a fine angle, to show off the different light and hues of these strangest-of-glass-creatures. Then you go through color variations, with what appears to be line and edge work too, and they move through to a dark variation (very intense) through a purple one with whited out light. Fine play of light and color in these. And you end with the natural end---where everyone gets distorted and twisted. In fact, one of the panels got squeezed in the middle (and should probably sue!) Delightful and eerie exploration of these oh-so common sights, which you've explored with real gusto in your gallery. Good to see them here again...I think it's been a while...
