Description

Captured 1/7/15 @ 8:37 am, about thirty feet west of my condominium complex. I don't know how many times I've photographed this anomaly, a virtual petroglyph chiseled into the sidewalk, when returning home from my early morning treks about the city. Just another one of my camera addictions. Have a nice day.

What a wonderful find! A piece of abstract art, inset into the concrete for those with eyes to see it. The cracking makes such a harmoniously attractive pattern! Superb capture, Harry!

when this first went up, I went "Yesssssssss!" Not only for the sharp and intense capture of the striations, tectonic-like fault lines, fine-textured grain in the concrete, etc, but for the fact that it's all contained---framed---by a rectangle. As Denise says, "A piece of abstract art, inset into the concrete for those with eyes to see it." Great sight, great find, and terrific work capturing the eerie intense light, the atomized surface (in parts), the sense of a landscape-from-the-air which has been torn apart by earthquakes, and the beautiful "containment" of it all, in that square. The angle really sets off the "art installation" feeling of the square. Terrific find and capture. My kind of sidewalk shot---not because I've ever done anything like it (I haven't!), but that if I could, this is the kind I'd love to do. And the light, though 8:37 a.m., feels almost apocalyptic. Love this shot.
