Description

Greeting Folks, If your going to war that is name to stick on your tank.. What it means bugger knows! But it works lol This A4 Comet Cruiser Tank is preserved at Duxford inside the Land Warfare Museum, alongside Jagdpanthers etc! Brilliant pose and I plan to get better photos on this visit there (Legends weekend).. By the time Comets arrived in the line they'd got things about right, fast, well armoured (though not enough ever to stop a Tiger shot, but a good tank for sure.. Zoom is a must! Requests for hardware are taken as they've more likely got it lol Enjoy Rob

WOW! When I saw the name on my email I thought to myself, "What the devil is Rob up to?" I was expecting one of your excellent sword swinging women warriors. Instead I got this cool Comet Tank, and I knew it was a Comet as soon as I saw the photo. I was going to look the name up, but Richard beat me to the punch. It obviously was named by a failed medical student from Oxford or Cambridge. I am delighted they have one at Duxford and very pleased that you dedicated this fine pic to yours truly. Anyway, the Comet was the epitome of the fast "cruiser" tank design favored by the British. As a younger brother of the "Cromwell" it mounted the more powerful 77mm gun which had a better armor busting capabitlity than the German Panther's 75mm. Unlike most of the cruiser designs it was very sturdy and lasted in service for many years with the U.K. and other countries. Thanks, Rob!

Ha! That name really gave me a chuckle! Thanks for the photo. I saw it was a Comet tank right away. I've assembled several of them to make a unit. Model was by Matchbox. It's been re-issued by Revell, which now owns all Matchbox models. And you say Duxford has a tank museum as well? PLEASE some nice photos of their tanks! Is it possible to photograph the inside (as in through an open hatch or the likes)? Man, I wish I had enough money to visit England museums! Lucky you! Keep up the good work (and don't freeze to death - it's COLD, raining and windy like mad. The bus drivers today complained about the wind catching the buses). :-)

Well, according to Richard, I've been a GYNAEOLATOR most of my life! But I don't have as big a gun as does this tank (and I'm not taking this any farther! LOL). Great shot of this tank, Rob! Some days, I wish I had one of these - it would make navigating through the hordes of stupid drivers a whole lot more fun!
