Skylar leaves the poster up for one week, then removes it. About 200 people show an interest but only 153 of them fill out applications. These first 153 applicants have been interviewed by Mirabella. She has found at least 25 good candidates for transfers to the new planet, her world. But, there will be much disappointment in the ones that didn't make it. 'Perhaps there is an alternative solution to outright rejection for these other candidates.' Mirabella says to Skylar as she finish her briefing with him in an upper small lab room. Skylar is relieved that there were enough candidates but hadn't thought of the consequences for the not so fortunate. 'Yes.' says Skylar. 'I should have thought about the impact another rejection might have on these fine individuals that were brave enough to take another chance and apply. What do you suggest we do?' 'Perhaps you could find some industry here on earth that might be able to train them and put them to work? Or you might create an industry just for this purpose?' A light goes off in Skylar's mind and he thinks about the new battery that has been developed by Archie's gang on the moon. They are going to have to create a facility to manufacture those batteries. Perhaps these other people might fit in there. It is worth a try anyway. 'What do you think the abilities are of these people. Do you feel they would be able to handle the manufacture of a new product, say a battery pack. And, do you thing they would not feel demeaned by me offering them this opportunity?' 'Based on my take of all the individuals I interviewed, I believe they all would jump at the chance to work in your new enterprise and would more than likely turn out to be quite valuable employees. Sure, their might be one or two that will get discouraged and perhaps quit. But at least you will be giving them a chance at a new productive life, which is more than they all have at the moment!' 'Well, I need to talk it over with my group. Reed will be supportive I'm sure but I still feel I must include my core group in the decision. Lets hold off letting the selected know about their new home so that we can give them all good news at the same time.' Mirabella agrees and is pleased with the good feelings she senses emanating from Skylar. Of course, Skylar and Reed's group agree wholeheartedly to the proposal and Archie and his gang as well.
