OH! These are such beautiful orchids. Only they look a bit rude, sticking out their tongues to the photographer :-)

well I'm coming out of "retirement" to congratulate you on yet another milestone. (In a little over 2 months, you'll be at 4000, which is a number beyond my comprehension! I don't think many people here have ever reached that figure.) And, of course, you know my thoughts about the range, exploration, dance, quality, beauty, etc of your amazingly broad gallery. This is such a fascinating shot, because of the relation of the orchid to the sign (which has, I assume, the Latin name for the orchid we're looking at). The background railing connects the two, a fascinating linear composition. But the orchid itself is captured as if it were posing for you---standing at attention---and it has an almost graphic quality, which I really like. I agree with Helle, it does look like a tongue sticking out at us---but then orchids create all kinds of strange expressions. You caught it almost as a 'construction', like something that was made by an artist for an art installation. And some real luminosity in your background bokeh. First rate capture, Harry, of the always exotic orchid family; and another addition to your long line of terrific flower captures. Congratulations, and wishes for many, many more to come! (ps---maybe you knew this, but "orchid" comes from the Greek root for "testicle". It's named for the shape of its tuberous section. From now on you can say, "that flower has balls!")

Reminds me SO much of the movie 'Day Of the Triffids', one of my childhood faves! Stunning plant though, well taken Harry. Rob
