Description
Greetings Folks,
Well, here she is and I KNOW you've been waiting for this..
Taking to the air, those are Spitfire Props its going over, growling nastily its Daimler Benz engine sounding so different is Messerschitt Bf 109G-4 'Red 7'..
The History of this aircraft is like so many other aircraft unusual.. It was built as a Buchon.. (in 1954)..
It It was 'Red 14' in the film Battle Of Britain, obviously! Then she just was left to rot away..
Eventually, some guys in Germany got hold of it and decided to retro convert it back to G4, everything on it now is as a real Bf109..
Its an actually, zero rated DB engine (restricted to 70% apparently because its so powerful!!)
And, it sounds and flies magnificently..
Further more! There are two more 109's due to fly soon in Europe..
Imagine that!!! More photos to come folks, sadly no dogfights took place, I think its worth to much to risk, but they did at least display this one on its own, and without that French idiot chatting over everything! (Neil and Sig will understand me there..)
Apparently, one type of French aircraft shot down over 800 Luftwaffe aircraft.. Now, multiply that by the other types of Allied aircraft and leaves no Luftwaffe! Idiot!
Anyway, ENJOY lots..
And I think you'll maybe find a video on you tube of this.. lol

It's great to see a 109 getting airborne again, that's truly a blast for vintage aircraft buffs. Funny to think that for so many years there were none flying at all. It's taken over 70 years to get one - a REAL one - into the air again. Thanks for sharing the photo, and a sweet shot it is too :)

Very well captured !!!!

An excellent shot and I would have loved to have been there to witness all you saw and heard.

Great prop blur...and motion blur on the Spitfire props! This really is one of your best photos I think, the 109 is very crisp. More please!!!

You got my sympathy on the "know it all." Every time we go to an exhibit, we end up in the vicinity of a sounding brass of a fool who knows all about whatever is to hand. I never thought about tipping someone to just "Shut the Heck up!" Looking forward to more images.

Terrific mate. Thanks for bringing it to us. I will have a look on U TOOB when I get home from work.

Bad Boy Back in Town! Superb shot of why the crowd went quiet. So wonderful to see a 109 raising the undercarriage and taking flight. If Monsieur Le Expert was talking about the Curtiss Hawk 75, he was off wildly. Overall French Hawk pilots claimed about 240 kills against the Germans and a few more in Vichy colors against R.N. aircraft and U.S.N. aircraft.

Sterling shot of the renovated Messerschitt Bf 109G-4, as it flies up to do battle with the P-51 Mustang-escorted B-17s on yet another bombing mission over the Third Reich, Rob. And you did a yeoman's job with that prop blur. Great stuff.

Gnmmmf! I'm gagged! Great shot. And you were lucky enough to get the Me109 ABOVE the Spitfire's propeller! Man, to have been there and seen THAT! The first thing I though of was - all those planes lined up, a perfect tempting target for a long strafing run. And, great weather - neither too sunny nor too overcast - the colors reproduce beautifully! Am looking forward to more posts! Keep up the good work! :-)

I'll bet that was a real crowd-pleaser! Not every day you get to see a 109 in flight! Great shot. Rob!

" without that French idiot chatting over everything! ".....yes well we'll leave it at that ehhh !! :-) This is fantastic..and retro fitted from a BoB movie Buchon...wonderful !!!! A few more of these wouldn't go amiss....and going by recent news, not unlikely. 'Connie ' Edwards, a pilot on the movie, took several of the Buchons in lue of payment. They have sat in his barn ever since. With the unfortunate death of his son he has no one to leave them to and so has sold them for £10,000,000. They are not in the best of shape but all will be restored to flying condition, even the only known 2 seat trainer.........pleasure flight anyone ?? http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/502635/Battle-of-Britain-fighters-fly-again-after-40-years-in-barn
