Description
Leaving Portland and traveling along the Columbia River Gorge Parkway. Headed east. I am in the slow lane, cruise control set to just under the speed limit. I begin to overtake the car in front of me. I now have three options. I can run into him. I can slow down to his speed. Or I can go around him. I move into the fast lane, pass him and move back into the slow lane. Suddenly he roars past me, cuts me off and jams on his brakes. I brake hard narrowly avoiding a collision. I continue to follow behind him when he suddenly brakes again. I move into the other lane and as I pull alongside him I can see him, leaning half out of his window and yelling and screaming at me. Before I can roll down the window to ask what his problem is he throws his coffee at me covering the window and hood of my car. I speed away.
Other than that it was an uneventful trip.
After six hours I approach my destination in Pullman, Washington. I am looking forward to a cold drink, something to eat and a soft bed. But first I must pass through the town of Colfax. Like Rome all roads lead to Colfax. One-fifth of a mile before the turnoff that will take me to Pullman I encounter the two most terrifying words in the English language, ROAD WORK! But I am a photographer so I grab my camera, leave my car and start shooting. After thirty minutes we are granted the privilege of resuming our journey. During my stay in Eastern Washington I will encounter those words many times. It seems the entire region is under construction.

there are those road rage idiots who should not be allowed to drive under any circumstances. I'm glad that he only threw his coffee at you - and it was probably bad coffee at that. Glad you were able to turn a frown upside down by getting some cool photos. Don't know about you, but I find it very difficult to drive with my shoulder - I try to use my hands whenever possible. have a great weekend

Horrific encounter with the road rage pratt. This week in Sussex a seventy-nine year old gentleman returning from marshalling a cycling event for his club was stabbed to death by such a person after a trivial incident. We shall know more later today.

It's like Mike said, some people should ride by bus or train ... Sometimes i watch some "Road Rage Karma"-Clips on YouTube, good fun 8=) Funny image, but what the heck is "Shoulder driving"?

The area between the field and the road is called the 'shoulder' in this country. It can be used to park your car if it breaks down. Sometimes people use it to avoid lines like this.

Quite a traffic queue there Mark and as for your road rage guy he is an accident waiting to happen.

One day we were driving the motorhome on a lovely country road in Kansas, and came upon some serious road work. We were the first vehicle in line, and the flagger came up and told us it would be a while. I took the opportunity to make sandwiches, and we had lunch while parked on the road! I don't know how long we were there, but it was long enough for me to wash the lunch dishes and get everything put away. That was the most convenient lunch stop we ever made!

I realize that highway upgrades are necessary but it seem that they always find me!!!! A great photo Mark by the way!

many "road rage" events are caused by people that have no respect for anyone. others are people that can not stand to be passed. most interstate here are 70 MPH to 75 MPH. the other night I past in the left lane a car driving slow on the the right. all the sudden after I changed lanes leaving a lot of space between the other driver, he/she suddenly speeds around me. no coffee however or any interaction

Yeah, I think that's what happened with me, Richard. I call it the 'Wagon Master' syndrome. He doesn't actually want to drive at highway speed. He just needs to have everyone following him and gets upset if someone leaves the wagon train.

I myself would be scared to encounter such thing as road rage. Stunning capture. God bless.
