Description

Ok, I don't wanna gross you out, but I decided to paint my allergies. These aren't life-threatening, ok? They're just a pain. Doctors tell me they'll go away in a "few weeks". Oh yeah? I packed my allergies' bags, gave them each $1000.00, packed a lunch, and gave them each tickets for a weekend in Vegas: They haven't budged. Apparently they didn't get the memo... What are they like? You really wanna know? I eat a melon? I break out in rashes everywhere. I eat tomatoes? Worse. Even grapes! My body is arguing with me and I just have to live it out. (I took allergy meds, but they turned me into a zombie; so now I'm taking acidophilus, and it's doing wonders!) (The allergies, however, are threatening to sue...) So here's my portrait of waking up at 3 a.m., with itching on every part of my body. It's delightful. Call in the neighbors, people, this is a bundle of laughs... I'll do a second visit to your galleries very soon: It's been great to be back again! Thanks for your wonderful visits, and peace and inspiration to all, Mark

Melons, tomatoes, grapes? They sound so benign. These fruits, among probably others, are the culprits that cause your allergies? OMG, the itching must me maddening. Take care with any scratching you may do in alleviating the problem. Hope the acidophilus provides some comfort. How about calamine lotion? And here I've been complaining about all of the sneezing i do every day because of an allergy. In any case, this super image of the bright multicolored avalanche of allergy components does its best in illustrating your hell-on-earth agony, Mark.

Gosh! How unfair to be allergic to good things like fruits, why can't you only break out in a rash at nasty stuff? Much easier to avoid. At the top of your amazingly gorgeous image I see the furtive but smug purple face of the gang leader, the quietly active organiser of the others. The green snot folk are the most gorgeous, but the skin rippers are pretty showy too. So glad you found something that is starting to work, Mark. The upside is this exhuberant visual feast!

I love the bold incandescent swirls of colors here - if you hadn't told us that they are the expressions of your pain, I would have said that they seem to flow with a natural, spontaneous joy. At least that's what I see. Conventional wisdom says that great art comes from suffering. Though I personally don't believe that there's a causal relationship, maybe in this case it happened to work out that way. But, regardless, I wish you relief from your suffering, Mark, confident that your art will continue to flourish...

Wow, those are some very colorful allergies. I see various shades of purple and green for grapes, red, orange, and yellows for tomatoes and melons, a touch of blue for the berries you can eat, and slashes of dark just because you're so pissed off. I'm sure it felt good to paint this swirling mass of energies that has been reeking havoc with your body. Get those suckers out into the open. Glad the acidophilus is working. Allergies are no fun. I've never been allergic to anything except years ago, in my younger wild and crazy days, I drank about 10 coco locos (coconut-filled rum drinks) and ate a ton of shrimp on a trip to Mexico. I got sicker then hell, and I guess the shrimp was bad, because I've never been able to eat it again. One tiny little bite and it gives me these awful stomach cramps ... so I stay away from it. I also avoid rum-filled coconuts. A few years ago, I developed a strange allergy that makes my lips and or tongue swell. Very scary. Happens every so often and I don't have a clue what it's from. I can control it with Benadryl but it makes me look like an alien creature for a day or so. I started rinsing my mouth with organic coconut oil in the morning and it seems to be helping a lot. It's called oil pulling, and I've read the oil is pulling the toxins out. Think I'll also add some acidophilus ... couldn't hurt, right? Sounds like you are kicking your allergies in the butt and they are heading for Vegas. Soon all you will have is the itchy memories and this wild artwork.

OHH! These itchings.... Who could ever even dream, that such wonderful play in colors and flames and waves can make you itch so much. Now i know how allergy looks, One can learn alot in RR. :-) I do hope they will obay and finally go to Vegas and stay there. For good. I know about itching. The pills against arthritis made me icth, until I was almost crazy. I am better without them. I am glad you finally found something, that was really helping you against it. :-)))

If your allergies do this to you then I'd like to shut you in a room with no exit and only fruits to eat...this is gorgeous! But seriously, I'm sorry you're having these issues. I'm sure your doc has determined that it's the foods themselves and not some sort of pesticide/protective coating/other substance on them that's doing this to you. Do they do desensitization treatments for these? I'm fortunate to be allergic to nothing at all (except for psychological allergies, and they're even worse sometimes!) Good luck with it, and welcome back; hope you can stay a while!

As a little kid living in Berlin, I remember having been allergic once to Strawberries (?) but nothing since ... I have grown up quite a bit you know and 'outgrown them' - the allergic reactions, that is! the only other reactions I know of - is the occasional sneezing attack, but I kinda like that, it clears everything (that's obviously hidden) out of the way. I personally believe in digesting lot's of Onions, Garlic and Yogurt, Honey - not altogether at once! ;) and I can suggest also that there are wonderful herbal teas, it's best to go to Sanitarium Health-food store for those (instead of medications from the Doctor) and then get well soon ;P BB maybe you were allergic to the 'Explosion in the 'pink' silk factory' ??? BTW - this is image is another example of eye-candy, 'bold & bright' = 'tumultuous stunning effect' !

Fortunately I haven't been allergic to anything this year. yay! But boy, do I recognize your painting!! I might have called it "Cry Havoc," as shorthand for the famous line from Shakespeare. Allergies always make me feel like those dogs of war have attacked in force!

Mark, first of all I also hope you feel better soon and that you take care of yourself. I experience a different type of allergies, but can relate to the frustration and suffering you go through. Sadly enough the allergies you have keep you from enjoying some wonderful foods, just as the ones my secretary has that keep her from enjoying any type of seafood. (Thank GOD, mine aren't like that. lol) Anyway this colorful creation does indeed do a fine job of representing the allergies you are currently battling and hopefully will defeat soon. Sorry to keep the comment so short but my foe right now is the flu.

Just when you think all is well, nature sneaks up behind you and slugs you with something to get your attention. Your art is so, so descriptive...bright, bushy, flashy, feisty, glamorous, gutsy, rolling, roiling...just how you must have felt at 3 a. m. that fateful night. I love this visual feast! Now all this aside. I doooo hope you can paint a follow-on to this work illustrating healthy peace and quiet...my wish for your immediate future. Great work here. Did you take this to the doctor and say, "This is what I have, fix it!" :-)
