Description
Greetings Folks,
From Flying Legends 2014, somewhat of a washout its generally regarded, most of the European aircraft couldn't get there..
This one did though, being big and tough enough to bash its way through the weather fronts.. From Switzerland the Breitling Connie..
One of three airworthy examples in the world though Lufthansa has plans to get another in the air sometime hopefully.
Here, landing water spraying up from the runway as she does..
Main reason for posting was this shot is far far better than previous one I have posted last year.. Using AKVIS system which I have just about worked out lol
And, some of the Spitfire shots I've got WOW!
Enjoy and BIg again for screens!

Very good photo, Rob, especially considering the plane is moving/landing. What has always impressed me with this plane is its aerodynamic construction. I remember flying from Frankfurt, Germany to Boston in a chartered Constellation in 1956. My bother flew from Los Angeles to Oakland (1993?, took 2 hours) the day they had the huge fires burning all around the city. All regular flights and planes were occupied with evacuating people, so they brought out a few Constellations to help with the evacuation flights. They were considered the epitome of passenger planes during their time. Then came the jets. I don't know of any jet passenger plane that has the elegantly curved fuselage shape as the Connies. Keep up the good work! :-)

First plane ride I ever had...Germany to USA was on a super-connie, I was about 2 and a half years old!

A stunner mate. These always look so impressive.

The usual superb shot, Rob. First plane ride my dad took in '44 was on a Connie.

Love what you are able to do with your new AKVIS system. Zoom is really cool. Last ride I took in a prop job was in 1966 flying from Denver via Kansas City to Louisville Kentucky on a TWA Connie. I remember being a bit put-off by not getting to fly on a jet. Today a lot of folks would pay big bucks just to experience a flight on one of these throaty birds. Got a fully restored Connie in TWA colors flying out of the old downtown airport in Kansas City these days...belongs to The Airline History Museum there. Current registration - N6937C.

Great shot of this beauty, Rob! The Connie is a true classic! As Bill said, we have one here in KC, although it's been a while since I've seen her in the air. Several years ago, our camera club had a great tour of her, along with the Airline History Museum. I'll have to see if I can find those photos.

Hey, I worked on that model when I was at Lockheed, a zillion years ago! Great composed and sharp capture of the Connie as it comes in for a wet landing, mate.
