My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I love your angle on this, Tara! What a great shot of this amazing formation. What wonderful textures and I love the way the steam balances the darker rocks. Love this shot!
I'm glad the links still work, but I think they got the lettering confused on this whole....um.....thing, yeah, thing... that's the ticket... Revulsion is probably more apropos...... :-P You'll probably get to hear me rant about it over some lasagna tomorrow...LOL

What an amazing formation. It looks almost manmade. Way too much sodium for my diet.

When I looked at the full size photo I had an urge to climb it, which I suspect is neither advisable or allowed. What a place!
Great news about the links, too!

You got the greatest POV here, what a stunning set of natural steps. Perfect lighting angle to highlight the steam! I love the foamy look of the surfaces, too. You nailed it!

Ok, this is my second comment in your gallery today (when I said I was only doing 1), but I had to say something about this now: This is a scintillating, very rich, eye-bursting capture, with wonderful white highlights on the stone tops, and that beautiful white mist. And a pov that makes it feel like massive human-made steps, like the "ghats" of India that lead one into their sacred rivers. Your low pov, the white stone on the bottom, contrasted with the near-blacks in the background, and the sandwiched-in, beautiful orange-beiges in the middle make a beautiful composition. As if you'd placed these here yourself. A great pov. And it just cascades down for us. A wonderful shot, showing why this part of the country was made for you. Glorious work. You're in your prime, what a glorious place to be!
