Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Ditto Glendaw (Glenda?) One can see where you get your knowledge of gardening, etc; and how you developed such a beautiful garden. And this, I assume, is just a piece of your gardening library. The color version (flickr) has a whole other rhythm, and I like it; but this one feels like the well-read, worn library of someone who really uses their books. The slant does it, and the harsh light (bringing out the age and rips of the books). A street shot of books! And man, do you know stuff. I have a few plant books, but they're strictly for 'models' (for drawing or painting plants) (before the web, that's all we had for anything that wasn't in our environment). In zoom, a sprawling shot of one's personal library...and that harsh light makes these books' character come out all the more...

oo00oo....love reading the titles in your library, Andrea! No wonder you are such a good gardener... you not only work at it, but you work to learn all you can about it. Very interesting image. :)

I am so easily seduced by a shelf of books...a whole room or shop has my attention unending! This is wonderful!

Mark stole part of my thunder. I like this image because of the implied sense of use and slight messiness. "The Victorian Gardener" completes the impression. The flickr image is much neater and regimented. Your title made me think of "The Lion in Winter" which is, in part, about decline. Your title made me think of a garden in its last days.

You could write a gardening book. Like the photo.

I would never guess that you were an Argentinian coal miner, or a submarine commander, from looking at your library! British gardener and artist, I'd say. Now I must look at my bookshelf to see what it gives away about me. :P
