Description

The Great Egret, sometimes called the Great White Heron, is about 3.5 feet tall, compared to the Great Blue Heron, which is about 4 feet tall. I took Tara and Bill to this same spot when they were here, but the Egret wasn't being cooperative and didn't show up that afternoon. Hope you have a wonderful birthday, Bill (and Tara). It was a honor to meet you both. Cheers! (will catch up on comments later as I'm busy with other things today). Thanks very much for your views and comments.

yes, another stunner (Andrea), the egret has an almost alabaster feel, like he's carved out of luminous stone. And his motion---stopped in air---is poised as if he'd posed this way for you. With a tranquil background in bokeh, to let him shine. Beautiful, Maria, your reputation is highly deserved. And a beautiful, poised image for Bill on his 75th birthday: Happy Birthday, Bill! And many more! And beautiful image, Maria---man, if I could photograph birds like this......gorgeous work!

The Great White Egret looks regal as it takes flight in commemoration of Bill's 75th birthday, as depicted in this excellent action shot, Maria. You have no peer as a bird photographer.

Thanks Maria for the birthday dedi. You got this guy spot-on!

This has reminded me of my need (or desire...I know there is a big difference) to look for a 100-400 lens. I've decided that my full-frame camera is great for landscapes and most other things but not wildlife to be captured with a telephoto...when I use your lens I get a true 100-400mm. When you or Tara use the same lens you get 160-640mm. Some difference! Tara has said, "Get the lens and use my camera". I'd really like to add a camera body and the lens:-) Can you see me tromping through the woods with two cameras strung around my neck?
