Description

The (old) original was blurred and with bad light. But I liked Abe Lincoln "preaching to the crowd," so I did 'salvage'. (When I lit it more, it got too harsh, so this is the compromise...) Just wanted to post one of my challenges... Thanks for stopping by! m (Please zoom for detail) ------------------------------------

My goodness, one would have never known that this needed "salvaging"! It's perfect... love the monotones and contrasts... a beautiful candid shot, Mark. Those trees almost look I.R.... great postwork!

Looks like you sharpened the bejesus out of it but other than that I don't know what else you did to it. The results are superb.

Interesting to speculate what the interchange is between them; I don't see anything at all difficult in this shot, it looks perfect to me!

my grandfather was friends with Pres.Lincoln before he became president. after that there was no mention in books. great capture and you must have fixed any focus issue, because I fail to spot any problem. I visited a memorial for Pres. Lincoln in Kentucky, but only had a sorry camera and it was raining also

I think it's great, and it made me laugh, the way they are all so attentive!

The thing that jumps out at me is the crisp contrast between blacks and whites. This is what I am always looking for in a B&W and find so elusive in my own stuff. Old Abe is always a very compelling figure...here I love the audience that has gathered around his stone speaker's platform. The background trees and the foreground grasses make a natural frame...outstanding.

Great salvage job & I agree with the consensus that there are no flaws in evidence...

Difficult or not, it has a wonderful range of tones, and excellent B&W contrast, Mark! That's a great 'salvage' job, my friend!

Your eye for contrast (and your ability to get that excellent result) is unerring. LOVE everyone gathered to listen to Lincoln! It does look like he's speaking and they've all gathered around. :)
