Wow, I'm thinking pangolin, but I don't think you have them in Texas...is it flora or fauna? Whatever it is, it's a brilliant abstract!!

snake? great capture what ever it maybe

This is difficult. It could be something of a plant or of scale armor of an animal. In any case, an excellent shot!

Something animally! Incredibly interesting, and you must have been quite close, so it was maybe a slow creature, maybe reptilian

lol, Andrea, "something animally"! That would be my guess! I'd guess a reptile of some kind. Or a snake. If it's a plant---as all that soil would suggest---then something in the cactus family? A succulent? (Someone with way too many teeth?) Whatever it is, it's a beautiful abstract, with gently morphing hues. And it has a translucence, like it were made of shell material. It's beautiful, and you do these with great panache, Maria, you capture the inner life of these patterns beautifully. You could do a whole year of these images, and you'd make one beautiful image after the next. Beautiful work. (I know what it is: It's a bunch of meat dumplings running to see the Rolling Stones...a big crowd...)

It can only be a animal or plant, but i am not sure though. Superb capture Maria. God bless.

Knowing a little about Texas, my guess is armadillo. Have never examined one close-up but from a distance...could be.

Interesting - I lean toward vegetable - cactus?

Maybe an close-up of an artichoke? Cool capture Maria.

Probably a snake :))

A delightful abstract and well spotted....

Panache...I love that word. Actually, most of what Mark said in this terrific closeup of another one of Nature's eccentricities. Right off the bat, I guessed the hide of a reptile - possibly a snake, iizard, iguana, or, really stretching it - a Komodo dragon! It may be some sort of succulent, cactus, the bark of an esoteric tree, something that grows only in Texas, it beats me. Otherwise, stellar clarity and lighting, Maria.

Ha, Maria, I thought: A reptile, pineapple, artichoke, but have no clue to be true ;-). I'm curious, my friend!!! I know one thing for sure: It's a fantastic shot. :)

With that beautiful pattern and those absolutely gorgeous hues, I must say it doesn't matter at all to me what it is. This is just spectacular!
