Description

I was digging through all my old photo albums trying to find one specific image to share with a friend when I ran across this old photo. This photo was taken about 1964 with an Argus "box type" camera. This cat was given to me as a kitten when I was four years old and was my first of many pets over the decades. My mother took a pair of her sunglasses and put them on "Tommy" who was sleeping blissfully. (yeah, it was the mid 60's, they really did wear sunglasses like that back then). No need to zoom, quality isn't that great. Thanks for looking.

lol, I certainly didn't expect to find this in your gallery! I love it, a real family shot, dressing up one's cat. And yeah, in zoom it loses definition: But one can see the wonderful body of the cat even better, and how ensconced he is in that deep nook. I love it, Maria. And yeah, they had sunglasses like that then: My mom and sister wore them and I made fun of them constantly. (Like I was one to talk---I had a wave in front of my hair that nearly reached the sky.) If pets only knew what we put them through...a thoroughly delightful capture. You can post these anytime...

My mom always wore that style glasses, "cats eye" shape is what they called it, I think? And doesn't that make a bit a irony, seeing them on a cat? What a beautiful cat he was...

Garfield in real life but Garfield was not published until 1978 so your mother was ahead of her times

I remember this style, too. Was very popular - mother had reading glasses shaped like this. I wonder how Tommy reacted when he woke up. My cat Kitty looks at me, or stares, when I put on my reading glasses, but likes to snuggle her face against them. Cool. Keep up the good work! ;.)

Ha,ha, I love this, Maria, it gives me a very big smile. So you had your own Dame Edna, right? And maybe Tommy becomes that famous too. Thank you so much for sharing, my friend. (We want more ;-))
