Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

the flickr version seems to have more powerful postwork on the bridge, and none on the trainyard---something you do extremely well (ie, postworking one section while leaving the rest alone). I like it and this equally much. In this, you've postworked across-the-board, and the bridge is gentler than the flickr, maybe a bit of softening, glow and small amount of edge work. The whole picture is that way, and it makes a 'picture book' image, that is, something from a book of tales or fairy tales. I really like the gentle softening, and your glow on the brightest hues. And your desaturation makes it overcast, almost like a shot out from Dickens (minus the modern stuff).
Finally, your pov---in both shots---is quirky and wonderful: The view most wouldn't capture. Ie, you captured the background through a heavy "arch", where the heaviest element is on top rather than bottom. And the stuff in that yard is great (the discards in the bottom portion---I don't even know what those are!) Full zoom, btw, stretched through my floor and it's filled with little sooty creatures/pock marks; and mid zoom (ie, what fits into the browser window) is gentler, but still 'andrea-ized'. I love both. Love what you did to this poor station. Its family is saying "don't ever let her photograph you again..." I love it.

Makes me wish I was there again...

Very atmospheric. A bleak somewhat dystopian feel to this possibly because of the overcast sky. And framed by a dirty and slightly rusted metal triangle completes the picture perfectly.

Very creative POV that creates the framing for the focal point. Well seen Andrea!

Amazing photos Andrea !
Railroad yards always make good subjects.
Just something about them peaks my interest.
