Description

Even though I live so close to the beach I still sometimes can't resist adding to my collection of bits and bobs from the strand line. This is one of many such findings. Another view of this Here

in zoom, it's an archaeological wonder in a museum. The flickr version is just as exotic and beautiful. So many layers; and really, with this detail, it looks like a huge canyon or cave in a landscape. Or the opening to another dimension. Beautiful detail, Andrea, and against all that black, it's smashing. I've had a tale in my head for a long time about a creature-ghost who comes to our home and says, "that shell you have on your wall: That's me." I love when you take these wonders of nature and silhouette them (so to speak) with total black around them: They become exotic jewels. And this looks huge, even though I assume it isn't. It's like it could hold 100 people in its "teeth"...

I would do the same, it's a fascinating bit of natural structure, with all those layers revealed through the hole. Wonderful find!

Wow - you really brought out the richness of the textures & colors in this. It looks like a bone fragment of an exotic beast. Really outstanding & makes me feel like I should try to take some photos of my shell collection...

Looks like the mouth of some great sea creature or perhaps a cave. A wonderful capture of the colors and textures of this. Your lighting really brings out the ridges. Outstanding work.

What a great find, the colors and markings are gorgeous.

Like how the lighting brings out the sharp and jagged edges, thanks for sharing !
