Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

"Princesses", my kind of humor. Great photo, lovley ladies, well captured mood. Don't want to see it coloured. B/W is perfect.

ol, great title and capture. The color and black-white are both wonderful, each very different. (Such vivid blues in the color version.) I love your title, and how the left-side lady is looking right at you. I'm sure if someone came from another planet and saw these women, they'd think either "princesses" or some strange headdresses. Delightful shot, Andrea. And man, those ladies were kind to let you shoot them! Ala Helle, I'd die if someone wanted to shoot me like this! (Of course, with my bald head, if you put one of these driers on my head, I'd get 3d degree burns...) And btw, formally you have a fine angle here, w/ shadow on the lady on our right, and the brightest light from behind (which is always more powerful in b-and-w). A fine piece of 'street' shooting, and a delight.

This does have a nostalgic look to it. Nice shot and kind of these ladies to give their permission.

Very colourful ladies getting glammed up.

Getting your hair done old-style; been there, done that...it's a way of life for some people, still. Glad it's not me, though, sitting under those dryers for so long makes me fidget! Wonderful portrait of these ladies!

Superb capture and post work Andrea. God bless.

Those are some crowns they're wearing! This has a wonderful nostalgic quality to it. And what a pair of good sports they are.

Oh, I remember when these hair dryers were so glamorous. :) The brand name says it all, doesn't it? These two have probably been having their hair done, sitting under those dryers, since the 1960s. :P This is terrific!

The hair shops here still use hair dryers for some jobs, but don't look quite like these hot-helmets.
What a cool looking shop, and sweet ladies.
The colored pic. is wonderful too Andrea.
