Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

...and another delightful capture. This one looks like a geode, and the layers in the top---right above the black hole?---have a beautiful dark luminosity, like this were a mineral of some kind. It also looks like a bread creation of some kind, baked with spices and maybe some tomato. Again, your black surrounding makes this a museum piece. You're getting revealing angles on this each time, and producing a genuine 'presentation'...Beautifully done; and, when large, you really reveal what a complex of strata, textures and colors this simple 'home' has in it.
And I read the Lewis Carroll, and yes, it's a delight. I wanted to say, "oysters? get a clue!" (I think we should all, for one day, have to write everything in rhyme. Can you imagine what a mess that would be? So all our comments and descriptions on RR would be in rhyme. That would go over well, wouldn't it..."really nice pic, your blacks are so thick!"...oh yeah, that would be popular...)

Super shot, Andrea and I love the warm colors..I think I should find the oister shells, I found soon 40 years ago when they digged out the cesspool :-) Once this place was under water.

Some wonderful light and details. That opening, for some reason, reminds me of the mouth of a whale shark.

One of my faves since childhood, that poem; we had an LP of "Alice in Wonderland" done by some orchestral group with singing and poetry reading, and it's forever etched in my memories. This is another stunning look at the oyster!
