Description

Although we now live in a small suburban enclave in Medford, just a few blocks from our house there is a road that we walk to that is still undeveloped (except for a few old houses each with several acres of property) & mostly grassland. Nothing very spectacular, but I like the open space & I like this one tree that sits in the middle of a field just off the rutted road. I'm pretty sure there will be housing developments built on this land at some point in the future, but I hope it can stay as it is for as long as possible... Please zoom.

It's good that there are still such places are where not all is obstructed. Hopefully the tree remains standing for a long time. Fantastic shot!

where I grew up, in a very northern suburb of Chicago, there were still long tracts of open fields and prairie grass---I mean the real thing, 8 feet tall, thick as can be, and endless. Today it's all houses, stores and complexes...I fully understand your concern. A haunting image, made moreso by your treatment of the tree, giving the branches a kind of "edge bleed" and quiet glow; and by the layered light in the field, with the darker light in the foreground. Fine angle too, with lots of deep blue and white in the sky, and a peeking sun giving gold to the shot. Very forlorn and beautiful, and just how such lone trees look in the middle of nowhere. A haunting capture, and very late fall too; and it reminds me of the northern midwest (and Ontario), in its bleakness and beauty combined...

(ps---I corrected the spelling of "Unreal"---thanks! You have good eyes! "Un-eal"? What's that, the polar opposite of "eal"? A non-eal zone?)

I also love the open spaces and undeveloped areas; hard to find them anymore around here! What a lovely view with that glistening band of sunlight across the middle of the tree!

Arnt trees not Lovely? With or without leaves. I have a weakness for trees :-) Looks a bit like a Hawthorn. This is a wonderful shot.

A lone tree in a grassy field is irresistible. Beautiful image!

You have so much more space in the USA! England is nearly full of suburbia
