Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

wow, so this is the back of your home! It really is a wall back there. And the area behind that---to our left---is a strip of trees and plants---it's like a big boulevard! For a "back area," it's quite beautiful, Andrea. And your shot brings out the long straight line that goes back way in the distance, and the profusion of green; and the standout quality of those barriers. Are the "to Let" signs for renting rooms? (That's what "to let" would mean in the states---although we more commonly say "for rent".) And they're road cones too---but isn't that road impassable with those cones there? I'm a little confused, lol, and you don't have to answer these questions...I just really like the long sweep of your lines, and the beautiful greens, and the stand out red-orange. I also like the deep greens of the nearest fence wall---your place? If so, I like that that wood is at one with the nature around it. It fits the plush nature you have in your property. I'll take a shot of my "back entrance"---believe me, it won't be as beautiful as this. Wonderful lines in this, and wonderful colors too.

Lovely and very nicely made fences, both of them, but I am still trying to figure out why the barriers are placed there. Nice shot.

Superb view of this work site; I prefer the look of your fence, with the weathering... and "to let" signs always make me think that someone stole the "i" out of a toilet sign, although our signs don't say toilets, they say restrooms. Same language, eh? I think not!

Love this shot!!! The orange barriers along the walkway with the new fence proves that when the barriers are removed the walkway will be beautiful!!!

Its a nice fence but yours has so much more character. As for the barriers I thought they were some sort of avant garde art installation. I do love a tree lined street. You live in a beautiful neighborhood.

How nice to see part of your neighborhood!! I love the moss on your gate; you know it's been there a while when it's this green!!

You got a fantastic perspective here, Andrea. If one should have a wooden fence, this is the nicest fence I have seen for a long time. Yes, you do have beautiful roads :)

What a gorgeous view Andrea.
Your gate and the neighbour's new fence really go hand in hand/ like how the tree's leaves overhang on your gate !
Great shot of the red barriers ----- while they last--- and the beautiful trees and landscape to the left.
