Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

My girls don't mind going either.

He looks a bit worried, It's funny Freya is fascinated by cats but scared of them at the same time a very dangerous situation as a house down the road has at least 12 of them to tempt her.

yes, this room has beautiful soft light, and the horizontals and verticals make for enchanting shots. A beautiful angle, and I love the light pouring in, it's so 'white'. And Ralph is so peaceful, almost forlorn, as he looks out. I know that, to dogs, waiting in a vet's office is fraught with a sense of abandonment and anticipation. This shot shows all repose and quiet. Lovely shadows, and wonderful light in this. (The flickr version shows Ralph yearning a bit...it's a lovely shot too, esp as he's in shadow as he stares longingly at you....)

If the word wistful can be used to describe a dog this is it. And I agree about the flickr image. He does look as if he's yearning or apprehensive.

both images are powerful in their own right and they do convey a bit of apprehension (at least that's how I see it) and yet a bit of zen calmness.

Fine work.

Our late Magnus was terrified going to the vet. He was always hiding his head under our arms. Like an Ostrich with the head in a bush ;-) I guess Ralph is scared of cats, because of his very short fur, which doesnt protect against cat claws. Our Mulle has difficulties keeping his claws IN, while Sitting with me, so my tighs are full of holes :-/ Pjuske is very careful not to poke holes in me :) Ralph is such a handsome dog.

He is looking so longingly out the window; what a lovely shot! My dog is always excited to go to the vet, until we have to go in the exam room, then she wants to leave immediately. The waiting room is fun for her, all those people and animals to investigate!

Cassidy literally drags me in the vets and the groomers place too. We go to Petsmart too.
