Description
My next few postings will be of items that struck my fancy at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. I don't have an eidetic memory (quite the opposite, I have a relatively poor memory except for remembering useless trivia), so I won't be really be able to tell you anything about these various pieces, such as their age or who created them. I liked the dreamy gaze of these two women sculpted out of marble...

I like the simplicity of this one most, of what I've seen so far. It's lovely!

ok first, you said "eidetic," and I've seen that word maybe 3 times my whole life: You get 1000 free miles for that. (Your shots make up for any lack of image-memory, btw.) Second, this has an almost optical illusion feel to it, because the lowest shadow seems to dissolve the sculpture within its deep folds. You capture light on marble beautifully: This has a silken feel. And the shadow around it---encased in that deep red---is shown beautifully as well. The way you present this, it's as if it emerged out of the abyss. Beautifully captured, Claude.
