After a quick search I would agree and bet 95% that it is borax and quite possibly one of American Borax Company mines.

Interesting landscape in nevada, but I'm thinking it's stupidly hot down there. I go up like a torch.

Love it Richard. My kind of country - wide open. I have been in the neighborhood!

you and rod can do these amazing sweeping landscapes, with a lot of "sameness" throughout; and yet you get such sweep, detail and beauty...it comes from years of expert work with the camera. Whatever the mineral is, it makes a beautiful white layer in between the hills and the low ground in front of it. A beautiful layered shot, with striking detail, and a gentle 'opening' of the angles as it goes left. And a perfect amount of sky to balance. A beautiful capture of this long low, somewhat desolate landscape. Mines can look awful---like dead zones from another planet. But in shots like these, they have an amazing and desolate beauty. I love this.

Oh, and congratulations with your mercedes piece. Hope it's not the first time it happens with you.
