Description
Hi.
I've been away, and will be away a while longer...my arm and shoulder are hurting, and I've been very tired (and working, though not with my arms or hands). And I came through a 2 week overhaul of my computer---massive corruption: Ugh. Computer Hell. We've all been there: Trapped in digital lunacy, while our computers smile: "You think you're in control, homo sapien? Yeah right...:
I've commented only in those instances where some of you have been ill or had losses (or done something for me, blush blush)...but I've seen everything, and I'll return to all of you as soon as I can.
This is a strange photo, made eerie in PS; but it's how it feels some days...I wish you all a fine March, and I hope your lives are healthy or getting healthy; and that you and your loved ones have joy. You don't have to comment: I just wanted to wish you all Hello! And I wish you all a splendid end of February!
Peace and love to all,
Mark

This really does capture the mood when the cars are covered and look like some kind of bizarre snow creatures.Good to see a post and hope your hand and arm are healing and your computer woes are behind you. Nothing makes you feel quite as human and helpless as tech trouble.

Looks not so good dear Marc, I would for sure be frozen in 5 minutes!

Cool and impressive photo work, Mark. I'm not getting healthy at all, my cig smoking is killing me. Love the lighting off the snow, looks deep and cold bro.

Such a lot of snow makes me glad we are still in summer though that won't last for much longer I guess. A superb capture and your finish gives it an out of world feel. I do hope your pain improves as it is hard to live with every day. ☺

It's great to hear from you, my friend! I'm sorry about your pain, and of course wish you a speedy recovery. About this photo, this looks a bit scared in a way, actually more spooky, if it's from a world without people, just covered cars, without the existence of a living being. But there must be one 'living one', cause you took the photo ;-).

.but I want to say hello and I will look forward to your coming back soon

You should show this to your warm weather friends so they understand what a "blanket of snow" means. You use the words strange and eerie. I agree with Mies about the "last man on earth" feeling. And the light on the right side adds to that feeling of strangeness. Intense golden, almost molten, light in stark contrast to the monochromatic scene.
As for the rest, follow doctor's orders and try not to rush anything. Maybe you just need to thaw out. Hang tight, Spring is almost here.

Hey, Mark! This is a really wonderful photo - lots of lake-effect snow, I see! I really like the the way the light is reflected by the snow. It's kind of like a giant reflector that lights up the buildings and cars.
Take care of that shoulder and arm, buddy. Just take your time and get all healed up! :-D Yeah, I really need to bite the bullet and stop putting off rebuilding this machine. It's just such a PITA to reinstall everything, and get the email all reconfigured. Ugh... Gotta do it soon, though...

Awesome job with this photo! I love the odd lighting that gives it almost a Twilight Zone feel. Hope your shoulder/arm get better soon. Major nuisance in the least. Glad you recovered from the computer rebellion.

That snow looks so heavy - I imagine it would take a while to scrape enough off your car to be able to go anywhere. And that pile of snow on the right looks like it's on fire. Hope you can get your pain under control soon, Mark...

Mark! Welcome back, at least temporarily, from the hellish abyss and abuse of physical pain and computer capriciousness. So good to see you back up on the screen. Can't say much about your arm and shoulder, which should hopefully ease back to normal, post haste. I empathize with any good person with pain. As for your antagonistic and frustrating computer, which reminds me of the deviant HAL from the movie 2001, A Space Odyssey, I advise to definitely obtain a new one, a MacMini if at all possible. That said, the beige and pinkish colored snow atop the automobiles does make for an eerie photograph, although I don't get any depressing last-man-on-earth feeling out of this. The thumbnail gives the impression of big rocks rather than cars. Anyway, cool POV and contrast here. Get well soon, my friend, you are missed.

Very very welcome back !! This image is very expressive, a great atmosphere in it !!

Hi Mark ! You really got a special light in this frozen city of yours. To me, the light gives hope, that the snow will melt soon :-) I really hope the treatments will heal you, so you will feel much better very soon. Hugs from Dk. Helle

La neige a transféré la ville. Elle couvre et dégouline son fardeau de flocons. Chacun de nos pas craque et résonne voisinant avec ces quelques corbeaux qui épient, dans la ville endormie, quelques nourritures entre deux poubelles ! Snow has transferred the city. It covers flakes and dripping his burden. Every step creaks and echoes by side with these few crows that track in the sleepy town, some foods between two trash cans !

BRRRR! GREAT SHOT

I love the curious sense of hushed light that this snow scene conveys; as if it's waiting for something that is just about to happen, something really extraordinary. Maybe that's why I love snow so much... Sorry to hear you're hurting, your presence has been missed around here, and I'm very sorry that your computer decided to play rudely with you. I hate when that happens. Mine duped me into deleting a month's worth of worked shots (luckily a short month, and I still have the original shots, so it's not a great loss). You can't trust a computer any further than you can throw it. Come back when you can, we'll still be here!

Others have made the perfect comments alrealy about this photo so I will just ditto and add my best wishes for your speedy recovery as well.

Mark, I was preparing to answer you're email and wanted to drop by first to see the latest image you posted. This one is truly a stunner, and the special effects really do make it truly one of a kind. Sorry about the health problems you are having and I'll keep you in my prayers. As for you're computer let me just say that hopefully the problems will be resolved soon. If you lived a bit closer I'd be glad to fix is up for you as that's what I do for friends in my spare time.

WOW - that is a sight for sore eyes ! (in my case more like 'hot' eyes, yes we are still hovering around the 30 C - daily ! and it's Autumn already !, El Nino is to blame, not the general attitude about global warming !)
Where was I ??? Oh, how much would I love to cool off there, by rolling in the snow (on top of the cars, hmm - maybe not!) but boy, oh boy - that looks tempting and those cars look like someone threw pancakes with cream and ice-cream over their tops, delicious - if you ask me and how about some Blueberries with it, to finish them off nicely,,, YUM ! (just thinking about that clean-up, oh dear!)
Anyhow, what a capture, Mark it leaves me speechless now... but this is real life and you cornered it perfectly, the atmosphere is staggering, so soft and melodious to me, like the last few seconds/moments at the end of a movie - ahhh... I can hear, ever so quietly the last notes fading, brilliant !
