Description
The little wolf pup was very friendly and jumped into Nyra's arms when she bent down to pick him up. Then it kept trying to lick her face and she said "Stop that little one. I will carry you out but you need to behave and stay in my bag." Nyra had planned ahead and emptied her bag before climbing down, now with the wolf pup secure in the bag she wanted to gather some moonstones before leaving. There were many to choose from right at her feet but she was looking into the shadows at something strange. The shadowy forms looked like stone columns to her. Suddenly Nyra realized they were not made of stones, she exclaimed, "By all my ancestors! Those are human skulls! This must be a burial chamber!"
Nyra wasn't afraid but it was unexpected and now she felt like a tomb raider. "This is silly," she thought. "If the ancestral people of this island are watching me they'll understand why I want the moonstone." Then being careful not to show any disrespect she gathered a few moonstones and climbed out if the cave.
Silly or not she felt better outside and Nyra took the little wolf pup and put him down on the ground, then she gathered the contents of her bag and said to the pup, "little one I must leave now and you must go find your parents." Nyra started to leave but stopped when the pup began yelping. She turned and told him, "I'm sorry little one but I can't take you with me, wolves are not popular in my village." She gave it a little push in the opposite direction and tried leaving again but the little pup started whimpering. It was very young and Nyra knew without its parents the pup would not survive. "They could be miles away and he may never find them," she thought. Nyra felt sorry for the little pup and couldn't just leave him. Resigned, she picked him up and said, "Oh dear, what am I going to do with a wolf? I guess you will need a name, I can't keep calling you little one." Then she remembered what he looked like in the bluish light of the moonstones. "That's it!" she said. "I'll call you Spirit because you looked like a little spirit the first time I saw you!"
