Description

The Ego is the conscious part of the Es, the conscious tip of that iceberg is the Es. The Super-Ego differentiates man from animal; It is the seat of moral conscience and guilt. The question is: What Freud had eaten the night before go to sleep to develop this theory ????

Or they may be monsters of the id, as suggested in the film, Forbidden Planet. Terrific composition of colors, contrast, lighting effects, tones and textures in this mind-captivating image.

He had too much sauerkraut, bratwurst, absenthe and lager. Great pic. Freud drowning in his own constructs is perfect.

Given his (supposed) religious feelings, he didn't eat saussages !!! Something too heavy ? I'd say a very very creamy cake...this is purely excellent...not the cake, your creation !

This is one of the most beautiful, sterling (like sterling silver) portraits of the 3 levels of mind that I've ever seen. We can see pieces of each of the 3 levels in every image here. The Es, to me, is like the smooth sea, here: It is smooth and beautiful, but we know it's very deep, and very mysterious "underneath the surface". The Ego rises out of the Es, and gives us your beautiful, haunting hands and legs. The bust/busto on the left is exquisite: You often create human beings with the most amazing patterns on them: Here, you've created a swirling mass of lines and energies, on the skin of this silver busto. And her hair (I think it's a female) is amazing: It looks as if you made her hair out of many strands of metal. And she shines like metal, like highly polished silver or aluminum. Or steel. The hands and feet (arising from the water) are also stunning: They're like the Es reaching into our conscious mind, trying to change it, effect it, turn it around. Also, I get a feeling that those arms and legs are asking to be held, rescued, pulled into the conscious mind. Ie, our deep, deep mind asking to be pulled out, to be pulled to the surface, to join our conscious minds. That's what I feel from this image.

Then the two people sitting above the water-line: Perhaps they are the Super Ego. The woman facing us sits like a judge (giudice, magistrato); and she is made of gold---which implies permanence and royalty. (We treat our Super Egos like royalty.) Even her hair is like "spun" gold, spun like gold threads, gold strands. The other woman is also made of gold, but a bright yellow gold. And I love those oranges too, and her "segmented" body: Her body is in "pieces," like a great archaeological ruin (rudere/rovine). I often feel like our Super Egos 'act' like ruins, like great archaeological statues from ancient times. They look over us, and watch our actions...And those Super Ego women sit in front of tall stone monoliths---like the pillars of a super-ego courthouse (tribunale, palazzo di giustizia). They're beautiful pillars, by the way: I love the hues and the textures. And your image is in a world of deep purple and blue skies, and purple and blue waters. This is almost a twilight scene, with an island castle in the distance...

A beautfiul, shimmering evocation of the layers of mind. In your image, Freud saw all this in a 'vision', a visione. It's a beautiful, haunting image, and it is also very true. More brilliant work, Giuliano.

The question would be: what did he smoke before he went to bed:? In every house should be a piece of art that will make guests think..and contemplate life..I would love this in my hallway:)
