Description

Paul Jackson Pollock, known professionally as Jackson Pollock, was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was well known for his unique style of drip painting. (according to Wikipedia) *** ... and then there was the shower recess in my bathroom and what has that got to do with Mr J Pollock, you may ask ? Well, I couldn't find the squeegee quickly enough to clean the inside of the shower [it's a boring and very much of a mundane thing to do, every time after taking a shower, as one does ! and one appears to be clean, very wet and getting cold, remember we have Autumn in OZ now !]. So, imagine this (no, not me in the shower wet and all - not a pretty picture anymore - LOL) but a hot and steamy screen with splashes or drips of water running down the glass screen and what have you got ? Voila - an instant Mr J P - don't you think so too ? In other words, this is 'Shower Poles' - and not 'Blue Poles'... I had no idea what I unintentionally created, after taking a photo of it, maybe I need to go out more often ? *** I thought, that this maybe a good start for an entry, as suggested for some kind of a future Forum by Deemanic.

How cool, and I think you had fun making this. They say it is good for the soul to do this sort of thing, and it beats going outside on a cold morning. We seem to be having a late burst of summer here which is great, but no good for those who are wanting to go skiing. ☺

This is great. Not sure if it's chaotic & random enough to qualify as Pollock-like - it looks to me like an abstract Japanese woodblock print...

Thanks Claude - even so I beg to differ, I feel that Pollock's 'Blue Poles' for example, were with each stroke planned, while I flicked my hair in the shower and had no idea, where the drops would land, I didn't even think, that this 'creation' would ever end up as a photo and then be 'converted' - very much chaotic and random IMHO - LOL but I do like the comparison to a Japanese woodblock print even better.

The mathematical patterning of Pollock's work is very similar to what you'd get from random splashes, so it's not surprising that your picture suggests his work. Very nicely done.

When you first showed me this capture, I thought you had taken it in a foyer of one of the new high-risers...how wrong I was, the shower has a totally new slant on it after this for me and maybe they will show in the foyer of the Sydney Opera House to show the different between your chaos and the controlled precision of Mr Pollock !

Way cool capture & ~Cheers~

You have showered us with a great image - there are some benefits in not cleaning too quickly

You are such a clever one! :) This is a wonderful abstract, and from such a simple and ordinary thing. You've created a masterpiece!

I agree with Tara. Very creative work. This does look like you have a strange garden growing in the shower.

yesssssss! A brigitte special once again! I love the comments, I agree with tara and mark, and I agree it has some genuine features in common with that great Pollock. (There's a YouTube video, by the curator of the museum that owns this piece---in your home country!) (It has some comments---on the video---which call Pollock a con artist...lol...even after all these years...) Pollock would've loved it, I think. It's also a Brigitte work, par excellence---I love this just for what it is. Whatever you did to it, you made it into a wonderful "forest" abstract, and I love the hues, and the spore-like 'heads' to the stalks. And the contrasts of all that dark on the bottom with that great peach pink and other hues on the top. (Well a pale peach pink.) And yes, there is a feel of a woodblock print to it. It's a terrific image, Brigitte. I don't know where these come from, how you do them, but everytime you jump into an image you come out with something exciting, dancing, new, a new take on familiar things, and wild and fun, or serious and eye opening. This is like a fractured bamboo forest in an apocalyptic late day sun. Terrific. Pollock would have been very happy...

Well dear, you have to take a shower more often, LOL. Look what you created here, this is an over the top image. Uh, not BB-chen being 'top-less', but dancing Dandelions growing 'over the top'. And the background colours are so amazing lovely to me! Much better then Paul Jackson Pollock (by just throwing the paint against your wall). 😀

LOL Brigitte--- Appears you will have company in the Forum of Deemanic. ( re Faemike 55 ).

Definitely a one of a kind- Brigitte's splash- on her shower then photographed and then ever so cleverly painted and converted into a outstanding abstract . Actually never heard of Paul Jackson Pollock before but have an understanding your work has some common features.

Sure hope you had a lot of fun putting this together. The entertaining " Shower Poles " are gorgeous.

The backdrop streaks of mixed colors is a perfect fit for your Masterpiece, super well done Brigitte.

Brigitte, I love your photo! I just checked to see if I had abstract down as a subject for The Unusual Subjects and I do. When that subject rolls around, you definitely need to take another one of these photos. Have you checked your sitemail? I sent you a sitemail telling you that one of your subjects was chosen as this month's subject. I can't wait to see your living room photo. I would love to see all of you in the Forum of Deenamic. lol You know The Unusual Subjects activity is open to members from any genre now, you can upload your image to the Unusual Subjects gallery. Brigitte, I'm sorry for advertising the activity in your comments area, but I kept seeing the forum mentioned. lol You and your photo are awesome! 😄

Thanks Dee, very much appreciated - no need to apologise, have had a bit of family illness issues and day surgery for practically the whole month of June, will explain more at the site mail to you - it's me, who should be apologising, being so tardy and not notifying you sooner - Sorry D. 😥

Excellent capture and photo manipulation !!!! It appears as though you have impeccable timing, too !!!!! If you hadn't explained what we were looking at, my first impression was that of a silhouette of something(s) ascending and not descending. It is very, very clever . . . excellent work ! ! !
