Description

We've spent the last two days in Newport, Oregon in our motorhome in an RV Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This is part of our view. Explorers, marine traders, and pirates used the headland as a navigation marker for more than 300 years before the U.S. Lighthouse Service built the Yaquina Head Lighthouse on the headland in 1873. British Captain James Cook moored his ship at the mouth of the Yaquina River on the other side of this headland on March 7, 1778. He said, "I called this point Cape Foulweather from the very bad weather that we, soon after, met with."

The sea looks cold and rough, but great to look at from a snug vehicle!

One of the benefits of carrying your lodgings wherever you go. This is an exceptionally fine image. The composition is superb and the slight mist/haze gives it a little mystery.

I visited Cook's cottage only last week! Aside from being his home, it was also extremely quaint! What a super view my friend. Andrew
