Description
Get up, you can take a nap when your dead." Says a familiar voice.
Hades heart skips a beat. "I made it through the portal." He says quietly to himself. Opening his eyes an ear to ear grin begins to form as looks up at the hulking form of his brother Crete.
"What are you smiling about?" Asks Crete.
"Just never thought I would be so happy to see that brooding face of yours." Replies Hades.
Crete's head cocks ever so slightly and his brow furrows in confusion, but regardless he extends a hand to assist his brother up which Hades accepts appreciatively.
Behind Crete he notices Hayden down on her knees embracing the minions, they are clearly relieved to be back in our dimension. As they are occupied with one another Grys takes the opportunity to move up along side Crete, he looks concerned.
"It's time for answers." Says Grys rather sternly.
Hades sighs, he figured this was coming, but now is still not the proper time. "We don't have time for this, we still need to find Tate." He reminds them.
Crete places an open hand on Hades chest blocking him from moving. "Make time." He says.
"We are concerned." Interrupts Grys. "You possess powers that we your brothers do not, I fear you are not being completely honest with us."
"We were all awoken at the same time." Reminds Hades. "My memories are no better than yours. You know what I know."
"But we did not awake hearing voices." Says Grys. "That concerns us."
"That concerns you?" Asks Hades. "That voice provided us a option we didn't have, that my brother is how we crossed the ravine or have you forgotten so quickly?"
"But at what cost?" Asks Grys. "I'm more concerned with what it is that your not telling us."
"You know as much as I do, and honestly I'm done discussing it." Says Hades. "We are here to find Tate."
"We don't know where here is!" Says Crete. "Why did the portal bring us here?"
"Now that is a good question." Says Hades. "Why don't we take a look around and find out."
Crete hesitantly removes his hand from Hades chest and turns sideways allowing him to pass. He sees that Hayden is now sitting in front of a large stone alter with a skeleton laying on top of it. One of the minions, the one with the helmet has picked up a skull and is examining it thoroughly, he seems fascinated. Searching the room further Hades notices that the wall behind the alter is different than the surrounding walls, the stone is much newer and seems to have filled in a entrance archway to another corridor or room.
"There's nothing here." Says Crete. "Let's keep moving."
"No, wait." Says Hades. "Look at this archway."
Hayden gets to her feet. "What is it?" She asks.
"It's nothing." Says Crete. "Let's go."
Hades points out his observations, this time loud enough for everyone to hear.
"I believe your right." Says Grys. "But we have no way of getting through and even if we did we have no way of knowing what's back there. If it's a room then surely there must be another entrance point."
"The portal brought us here for a reason." Says Hades. "My gut is telling me that Tate is behind that wall."
That gets Hayden's attention. "We have to get through it." She says urgently.
Crete walks back over to Hades and leans in, their noses practically touch. "THAT WALL IS PROBABLY THREE FEET THICK!" Shouts Crete. "Even if we could get through it, we would be making a hell of a lot of noise doing so."
"That is our path." Says Hades calmly as he points to the wall.
Crete's eyes flare red with anger. "I will knock your ass out and drag you out of here if I have to." Says Crete in a voice as cold as iron.
Hades arms shoot out from his sides with his palms facing up, It almost looks like he is challenging Crete. "I tire of your threats brother, I know you are a dangerous man, but you seem to lack the intelligence to comprehend that others might be just as dangerous, maybe even more so." Says Hades. "I do not wish to fight you brother, but should you force my hand I will."
Crete sneers. "Don't be a fool."
"I am not the fool here and I certainly do not fear you. Understand this BROTHER, if you threaten me or another member of our group again then you and I are going to have a problem. Am I making myself clear?" Asks Hades.
Everyone watches in absolute silence as Crete's hands tighten upon his hammers, but before anything can escalate further Hayden forces her way between them. "Stop, stop, we can't be fighting among ourselves like this. We're here to help Tate, this is about TATE!" She says with a tear rolling down her cheek.
Hades turns his back on Crete and walks calmly over to the alter, he pushes the skeleton off and it's bones separate as they hit the floor. He then grips the sides of the alter and groans in disbelief as he tries unsuccessfully to slide the solid stone slab. Frustrated he looks to Grys. "Little help?"
Grys walks over and places his hands on the opposite end of the alter. "On three." He says.
Both Hades and Grys prepare. "One...two...three." Says Grys.
Both men expend every once of strength they have into the effort, but the stone pillar doesn't budge an inch.
"Thing must way a ton." Says Grys in between heavy breaths.
"More like three." Replies Hades while still panting heavily.
Crete walks up to the his brothers who are now resting against the alter. "Move." Is all he says.
Both Hades and Grys raise an eye brow at one another but do as Crete instructs. When the brothers, Hayden and the minions are safety aside Crete begins examining the wall behind the alter.
"There isn't enough room to knock the wall down with the alter there, it's to close." Says Hades. "And we can't move the alter, it's just to heavy."
Crete looks over his shoulder and his eyes flare red again, every time Hayden sees this it sends a chill down her spine. Then without warning Crete swats the alter with a back hand motion open fisted like he was swatting a fly, the heavy stone alter flies from its base slamming down onto the floor below.
"By the gods." Whispers Hayden in disbelief. She glances at Hades and Grys who must be just as surprised as she is by the fact that their jaws are open wide in awe.
Grys then leans in towards Hades and whispers. "Maybe it would be best if you didn't provoke him from here on out."

Awesome scene and chapter, so it would appear that Crete has super human strength!

Fantastic job! Strong Crete may be, but I bet Hades has a few tricks up his sleeve too.
