Description
Tolin, why did you have did you have to bring up that rumor about us sleeping together?
NAMBI, INTRODUCE YOURSELF. WE’LL TALK LATER.
Fine. I’m Princess Nambi, Prince Tolin’s husband. As Tolin told you yesterday, we have three wonderful children. I don’t know why he made it sound like I raised them alone. He’s had a big hand in it too. Even when we were living in Veslin, and He was here in Sen-gan, he came to see us frequently, and he’d use scrying charms so we could keep in touch.
You’re probably wondering why we were living in different cities. Tolin was serving as army captain in Veslin when we met and got married. He was supposed to stay in Veslin until he had to go to Sen-gan for being crowned. Then he got transferred to Thager. Chittoy was just getting over sleepless fever so it wasn’t good for him to travel. Within a short time, he was transferred to Sen-gan. I decided to stay in Veslin until things settled rather than bounce from town to town.
Then his uncle died, and his father named him prince-general and Emeton heir. That was quite a shock. It’s not that I wanted to be married to the king. I didn’t care. He’d actually hid that he was the crown prince until after we were pledged to marry. The shock wasn’t just mine, but everybody’s. Right along his dad had said he would be heir. (Yes, I do know why he changed his mind. If you want to know, ask Tolin or Emeton. I don’t gossip.)
Tolin said his uncle let the army get lax. That’s understatement. Tolin spent several months traveling to the various cities to see what needed to be done to improve things. I couldn’t see dragging a little one around the kingdom like that so I chose to stay in Veslin, near my parents until things settled. By the time they did, my mom had passed away, and I worried about my dad. He’s a magistrate in Veslin, but my mom helped him quite a bit. He was getting older and couldn’t do things he once could.
It wasn’t until we adopted the girls that Tolin finally convinced me to join him in Sen-gan. Raising one child is one thing. Raising three is something else. Tolin still travels but nowhere near as much. And it’s good to have him home most nights.
