For more than 20 years I have worked as a technical writer and commercial designer. My primary focus has been on print and Web design and I'm just now exploring the many incredible tools that exist to create 3D work. My main tools are Poser and Clip Studio Paint, which I use to create comic book style line art. I am also published an Origins Award winning Wild West game called GUTSHOT (see www.hawgleg.com for more info).

Excellent! Your light and shadow really look terrific! Nice line work and tones. Really creates a mood too. Top notch, bud!

Thanks! This one was actually a bit harder than the other two line art treatments I did recently, because he's so static. I tried to bring some motion into the scene by use of the lines in the background and in the light beam.

Digging the negative space effect with the torch light and the different shadings, pretty good start for your Guard character, I agree the pose looks a little stiff, I think turning the head more to look where the light is pointing might help, also the hip seem a bit to far forward, just a couple of suggestions.
Well done & ~Cheers~

You are spot on about the direction of his head. And I think stiffness is one of the inherent problems with this technique. The crisp lines accentuate that quality in the poses. Since I've had two full-body images look like they are thrusting their hips (I didn't see it until you mentioned it -- I had put it down to the lower POV), I'm wondering if that's an artifact of the shading process (in other words, something about the lighting and shading is accentuating the hips). Stuff to think about as I move forward.
Thanks for noticing the negative space -- that was something I was pleased with. And I also liked the different shading in the light beam and the doorway. As an experiment, this was something I was pleased with.

Looks good - I haven't tried out these effects yet.
