Description
Flying Legends 2016..
This was one of the reasons I wanted to go.. This IS the real deal.. And yes, that is a 'P' on the side.. (P means Prototype).
Again, very late booking nothing in the book and very little on website yet.. It used to be a Sea Fury FB11, it has an original Bristol Centaurus Mk. XVIII 2480HP engine (massive snarl). Everything has put back to original including the brakes.. Only the Sat Nav is new..
It has been painted to represent the Prototype Sea Fury and as such would have a Guard at all times when on the ground..
This aircraft was built in 1953, and of course a Sea Fury was credited for shooting down at lease one MiG 15 in combat..
This was its first airshow to the public.. It flew a very energetic display!
More from Legends to come.. Sorry about the gloom.. weather.. Britain etc!

Hey, Rob! Sorry about NOTHING, mate. The light here is great - no reflections from the sun. The livery is beautiful in this light. And it shows that Humbrol's paints are VERY accurate (I've used these colors on other models). Nice prop blur. And good details. Sometimes sharp sun/shadow will make details vanish. And thanks for the history. Considering downing a Mig 15, how fast are these planes? Keep up the good work! :-)
My rating - a 6 !

Woah! That is fantastic!
Never seen a Sea Fury in that scheme before, over here when you see one it's in RCN colours. Looks very sharp!
I agree about that Centaurus - I've only heard it once, late 80's... I've been in love ever since!

I saw a Sea Fury at the Mojave Air Show way back when as they were going to contest with Griffon engined P-51's and a Bearcat with a DC-6 engine. The flying flea flew that day, a DC-8 with a platform on it's back for a wing /fuselage walker. Talking about sleeve valve engine with my dad he related about the Willys-Knight in his neighborhood he would go see when it started. There is a car barn of them in the Tampa Clearwater area but I couldn't get him to go point out the culprit.

Really cool shot, rob! Love the angle of the plane.
