Description


The next stop on our vintage jetliner journey is the De Havilland Comet. It was the first jetliner in history but because structural problems and some crashes it's commitment was delayed some years and the Americans took the opportunity and drove the Boeing 707 into action and it became the more successful jetliner. Well, sh** happens... But at least the Brits were first. Here you see the Comet 3 in BOAC livery.

Ah yes....the square window stress raisers......and yet ship portholes had been circular for years before to reduce stress cracking. Great image ....thanks :)
