Description
The reenactment took place at Birdoswald and Housestead along Hadrian's Wall. Here's a portrait of a Roman veteran of the 4th Flavia Felix during the battle under the rain.

I like this image very much. To have lived along the wall was at first likely disconcerting.

Great photo. They put on a good show. I know Birdoswald well... for fifty-odd years; used to take my 1st Form (Year 7 now) camping just below the fort, in the valley at Underheugh Farm. When we first visited the site the Baxters were still farming there and there was most of the fort waiting to be re-excavated. The farmers have moved to a farm nearby, and Birdoswald has a proper museum (and tea-room) for the many Wall visitors.

After the success of the re-enactment they decided to make the tea-room and other structures larger. They'll work at it next year.
