I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Wow, he actually still uses a typewriter! A wonderful character portrait of this young man...

What initiative this young man has. Hope he did well.

A new take on 'starving artist'. This is a great character study. More remarkable to me is the fact that he apparently is able to find typewriter ribbons in this day and age.

'The boy stood on the burning deck, A pocket full of crackers. One fell down his trouser leg, And burn't off both his sand shoes'!

Interesting capture of someone I can't imagine advertising in the United States, Carin.

A fascinating capture Carin. I would be leary of anyone that can crank out a poem on demand!

When I lived in New York City, there were poets and 'historians' in booths, and they gave you poetry on the spot, or philosophy, or history---made up (this wasn't accurate history!)---for the price of a cup of coffee. This guy reminds me of them---except he's classy enough to have a typewriter! (And where did he find a typewriter??? What planet did he have to go to to find that relic?) Anyway, as a shot, I love the big swaths of bright hues---mainly beige and light browns---contrasted with the stark black of his coat, and the dark hues behind him and to his side. Love the contrasts. Really engaging shot.
(and is his name is "morbid books"??? catchy advertising!)
