This captures the colorful exuberance of carousel art really well. Just all out, unabashed, no subtlety, no restraint, no holds barred explosive bursts of decorative color. The lettering (I can really only make out the "ON THE" in the middle) reminds me of the intricate lettering on psychedelic posters from the 60's...

Tremendous color and definition in this great pic of the merry-go-round, Carin, but it's going in the opposite direction vis-a-vis the American type. Also, I see no action so wasn't the Brighton Beach entertainment section of the pier closed at that time of year?
