Description
First, I am sorry I have not kept up with your posts I will try to catch up. As some of you know I have had computer problems now for over 6 months which was caused by a defective Nvidia GTX Titan X. I ended up sending the computer back. Because a Nvidia tech over the phone that their current GTX line would not support Iray. I delved into my limited savingsm to buy a Nvidia Quandro P5000 card. Only to fins this card was too pricey and new for DAZ or Poser to support. Only those programs that cost 3000-7000.00 listed on there web sites they supported the card. A DAZ's tech informed me that DAZ would likely not support the card for a long time or ever and suggested I try Octane as a solution. I tried octane demo, as it card was not listed as supported on their web site. It did not work at first but Nvidia came out with a new driver, which actually is less compatible with DAZ and their first version. I was just about to go back to the original driver when I gave Octane one last try and the Demo worked, so I purchased Octane. Right after I purchased Octane tech offer me a 30 trail of full version sating there were still a few bugs with the Pascal chip....sigh.
Anyway here is a DAZ rendered quickie in which I reduced the size and quality to medium . It took almost 3 hours to render using CPU and GPU. Octane converts all materials to Octane materials as figures are loaded. I do not know how to turn this function off yet or if I can even do it. As you can see most textures convert OK but the water looks like something out of Poser 5. Octane has a bunch of textures in there online library but I have to learn how to access them and import them to the render. I tried but failed so I will have to learn how.

Not that bad. Second try looks better and different. I think you could ask people here who use Octane. I've seen many high quality renders. Everything it's learn how to use it properly. You got all what it takes to make dreamy renders, software and hardware. I know you will learn.

I've never used DAZ or Octane, but I think I remember that Reality does the same thing with the materials. Really interesting study in the images here, my friend. Looking forward to seeing more Octane renders from you. Best of luck getting everything flowing smoothly going forward.

The water is the only thing that still looks digital--everything else looks excellent! I know you will get it to work, it's a good renderer!

Holy cow, this looks great, Rick! And considering all the foliage in this image - that's a ton of polygons - 3 hours isn't bad.
I know you've had some computer challenges lately, and I hope things are falling into place for you, buddy!
