Description
From the same restaurant courtyard as yesterday's "Princess" post. A big ceramic planter had completely burst off a potted tree & lay in shards on the ground (the restaurant was closed at the time). Unless there was some vandalism (seems unlikely to me), I'm assuming the force of the roots growing outwards was probably responsible? Any other theories?

Super abstract!

with my current obsession with 'museum' tales, this is ripe for tale. (If I can get up the energy...) Trees do have potent root systems, that sure seems an explanation. (Maybe it was an animal, or vandalism, as you say.) The closeup looks like an archaeological study of some shards of a very old piece of pottery. Lots of grit and grain, and heavy earthen tones. You turned a 'household accident' into an earthen bright archaeological find. I really like this shot. (Maybe if tara sees this, she'll come up with something. This is tale worthy...)

sounds likely to me - hopefully they will have replanted the tree

Well, it's late and Tara isn't going to write a tale, but I do have an alternate theory, just because a mystery shouldn't have only one hypothesis! :P Maybe the pot had a bit of a crack, and during the winter it froze and cracked, and when it thawed again, everything fell apart. Maybe it was roots. Maybe it was the potted equivalent of frost heave.
:)
Whatever ... it's a terrific picture!

I had a cycad that burst a ceramic pot - so your theory could be spot on! Great treatment!
