Description
Because we live in our little Summerhouse, there isn´t much space for art, but I cannot live without my so called art. It is as simple as that.
SO, I have my own room, where my bed, my computer AND my winter art is going on. What you see here, is my bedroom/computer room/workshop table. This is where i have been creating all the winter. It´s a mess. I need to do something about it.
I do have a little shed, which is my real workshop, but it is even smaller, and.....there is a mess too, so in order clean up my Bedroom mess, I need to clean up my workshop first. SIGH! I dont know where to begin. DONT ZOOM. It is too depressing.

Depressing? No, typically artistic! Looks like my kitchen counter, but it has a lot more papers on it. I know an artist whose work room is paint all over the place! Including his shoes, socks, face and clothing! So, creative people focus on their creativity, not on having a clean, cleared work space. Oh how sterile and uninspiring THAT would be! I really like this photo. Makes me feel good about my mess at home! :-)

I know how you feel . Helle! I have bigger rooms and probably more space but I still have a mess exactly like this on my table where I half watch the TV and also in my studio which is also a plant propogation room.!

LOL! Such a question! I guess you just start in your studio, but what do you toss into the trash??? Is anything in there worthless? Even dried paint might be used as texture, or little bits of string and yarn, so how can you throw it out? I am what they call a "naturally organized" person, which means my space is always relatively tidy with very little effort from me, since it's my natural way of being, but I would be flummoxed by the riches in your studio areas! I would toss everything I thought had served its purpose, and then would probably want it again later. So. I'm no help! LOL!

Getting a bigger room just gives you a bigger mess to clean up - someday. "The amount of stuff you have will grow exponentially to fill any available space you have." Trust me on this - been there, done that! Besides, it all looks so inviting. I've never known an artist who had a neat art table! LOL

Helle, I am back for a week to comment as much as I can, but I wanted to comment on this tonight, before I go to sleep, because it's such a classic shot. And the comments here tell you that others have been through the same thing in their studios. Have you seen any of Rod's shots of his basement? Man, that guy's got electrical things, huge ceramic metal things, and all KINDS of stuff all over. I wouldn't be surprised to find a NASA rocket, 3 mummies, and an Atomic Reactor (and I told him that in his gallery). Remember the shots of my "piles" in my living room? You're not alone, in other words! And yeah, to face a desk like this is like facing a mountain, I get it. It's an exercise in Despair. But artists throughout the centuries have had studios like this. Not many artists had the money to live in big places: Their studios were packed. And when they straightened up? It'd get messy again. To some degree, we just have to live with the fact that, while we're making order of the universe with our art, our 'exterior' lives are a freaking mess. I love this shot, I love the array, the shapes and colors---it's a collage in a way! And I know that you're forced to use this space because you can't use the studio in winter; and I understand the 'interlinking' thing---ie, in order to clean this, you gotta clean something else FIRST. I get that. Makes you wanna pack a small bag and leave home forever. But...it's what we're stuck with, we creative types. And of COURSE I'm gonna zoom: I wanna see all this stuff! It makes me wanna find some shots of my stuff and post them. There should be a requirement once a year: Every artist on RR has to show their studio while it's being used. Ya can't clean it up, or make it 'nice': Show it in use. Hope you're doing well, dear Helle, I'll write soon. (And btw, that painting of that building---about 2 uploads after this? That's a helluva job! I know how tedious it is to do all those damned windows and lines and so on. Over and over: When you get halfway through, you just wanna yell at the windows, "do it YOURSELF!" I know, been there-done that. You did a helluva job with that not-too-inspiring building (meaning the building itself was rather plain, not that your painting of it was plain!). And the trees and cars use just the right number of lines. I love how you've found all these old drawings and paintings. It's very exciting!) I'll be back. Have a fine week, Helle!
