Description

Does that a ring a bell ? some of you may have read and remember the Tom Robbins book, about the extraordinary novel of Sissy, a small-town girl with big-time dreams and thumbs to match: 'Even Cowgirls get the Blues' - another one of his books, called 'Jitterbug Perfume' or 'Still Life with Woodpecker' (same author). As someone said before me, I ended up loving it and reading it slow, because I didn't want it to end. Tom Robbins has a grasp on things that dazzles the brain and he is also a world class story teller... *** A blend of two old photos, one is of an old friend (Debbie, real name !), trapped here in the blue bottle, by our long lasting Summer heat, which has finally come to an end, after the "Tropical Cyclone Debbie" (also the real name, believe it or not !) which had recently hit our shores and now the big clean-up had begun. Slowly, slowly everything is going back to normal, whatever 'normal' is ? LOL :-P *** Cheers Brigitte

Great job of blending the two photos, Brigitte. I've read a lot of Tom Robbins too & enjoyed his wacky, surreal way of looking at the world & his way with words. It's been many years though & I think you may have inspired me to go back & re-read him again...

wonderful work on the blending! Looks very realistic, as if she really is inside the bottle

Ah yes, the good old 'babe in a bottle' trick....much easier than a 'ship in a bottle trick'...LOL

As I know Debbie well, I can say sometimes when she arrives, it's just like a cyclone has hit us !...and locking her in a bottle seems a pretty good idea now (note to self, next time she comes, get bottle !)

Neat concept and result ~Cheers~ 😀

I hope she figures out how to get out of there! Maybe somebody should go look for a glass cutter (or a hammer).

Very cool work, Brigitte ! ! ! An excellent composite ! ! !

If this were Eleanor, she would be wearing a bod that she keeps in a jar by the door ! ! ! !

With people above, you've blended these images beautifully. I'm back on RR for just a few comments in each gallery, and I was stunned to recognize how many of your recent uploads I've not commented on! What I don't get, this time, I'll get the next. But to this amazing image...

You certainly caught the sense of a hot season coming to an end. The screen in the background suggests summer, as does this woman's gown (Debbie). Debbie's posture, and the way her dress is draped over her, makes her look like a character from a Tennessee Williams play, sitting in an old New Orleans tenement where it's very hot and very humid, where people's clothing is half off of them, as they sit down and try to get some breeze...

Being trapped in a bottle helps, to be sure. I love the deep blue of the bottle, and the bright aqua blue you got on the top of the bottle. And that the rest of the image is nearly black and white (not fully---I see reds, greens, browns, etc---but the hues are muted compared to the bottle). The juxtaposition of the deep hues with the muted hues is striking. Another terrific piece of your imagination, put into imagery. Really effective. In fact, I'm sweltering just looking at it! Beautifully done.

I thought this was a 3D image, and am pleased to see it is not. You did a really good job of blending these photos together. And thanks for the background story. I always enjoy reading them, even if I don't always comment on them.
