Description

Hi, Taken on a very scummy day at RAF Cosford, attacked with various photoshop prog's etc but still not brilliant. Arty shot of their English Electric F1, doing what they did best, and the nose of a B.A.C Bloodhound, used to defend the bases Lightnings were based at.. Sorry for light, Rob

These are the kind of veteran systems that tear me up. The test pilots, the instructor pilots faced danger and some were lost. Ready to go at a moment's notice it exhibited a deterrence based on the hardy struggle of 1940. After the Barbizon down sizing and down grading it still had a performance worth displaying. Walk with me a moment over to the Harrier exhibit. Does your mind conjure up a duct burning supersonic type?

COOL SHOT! Almost up its fan tail! Problem with lighting? Where? Which? I don't see it! Good idea to bunch the F1 and BAC in same photo and area of the exhibit. I'm reading "The Last Lion", Churchill during the 1920's to 1930's. Unbelievable how STUPID Brit politicians were in the 1930's, even when seeing German rearmament. Total denial. And history repeats itself! Germans hit the wrong people with their Blitz! Should have made leftie politicians a rare animal exhibited at some central zoo (as Homo un-sapiens). Thanks for the cool photo. I can just see / hear the F1 give off a good, resounding fart! :-)

Fine pic even with the usual "museum" lighting that seems to be common. Love that Lightning-a big beastie of an airplane.

You were born to fly one of these...too bad the RAF didn't put you to work...you'd have loved every day on the job.
