Description
Hi there,
Taken moving at speed and low during the Shuttleworth Military Pageant 2016.. Looks good huh?
This is built by Yakovlev but in the early 1990's.. It used original plans for the design but sadly as no original Klimov engines are available the usual 'fits all' Allison one is installed.
The scheme is of 'White 100' of 402 IAP (regiment). They were formed out of mainly experienced Test Pilots.. They received Yak 3's (which oddly arrived after Yak 9's!) in 1944. They finished the war with an official score of 810 in the air plus many more on the ground, though of course as everyone knows on all sides over-claims were rife.
This aircraft is based in the U.K.

Yeah! Yeah! Russian guns are cheaper and more reliable. Russian aerobatic aircraft are the best in the world. Russian rocket engines are what boosters really respond to. Excess oxygen it seems. Sure, denser working fluid to take the heat off temperature. Seen the MIG-3 made in Rhino. Now a real metal Yak-3! Cool! I'm neither sarcastic nor in awe.

excellent shot

Cool shot of a fine fighter. It was a lightweight version of the YAK design that was shelved in favor of the YAK 9, but resurrected. The French Normandie- Niemen Squadron flew this type.
