Here I'm standing on the iron plates over the tunnel, looking west.
The thumb nail shows a pipe with a set of three branches with silver "nuts" for flow regulation. I'll see if I can find someone to clarify and explain their functions. This set is located to the right and partially hidden behind the upper plank in the large photo. There is another set on the left pipe a bit further on.

Tomorrow I will satisfy your requests to see photos from the medieval days last weekend! I took 84 photos of it, but will post the best of the lot.
